"And in the bloodlit dark behind his eyes, silver phosphenes boiled in from the edge of space, hypnagogic images jerking past like a film compiled of random frames."
William Gibson, "Neuromancer", 1984
It's 1980 and the future is finally here. Collection of 256 unique GIFs, ǥᵍłˡŧᵗȼᶜħʰvᵛɍʳsˢ pays homage to two great sci-fi works of the 20th century: George Orwell's prophetic "1984" and William Gibson's cyberpunk novel "Neuromancer" published the same year. Using visual language to merge their dystopian storytelling surrounding the failed promises of technology and societal progress, the collection features dithered alien landscapes and cityscapes made of interference, their citizens bound in consensual hallucinations imprisoned in their own flesh, seekers of true names in pacts with demons and visions crawled with ghost hieroglyphs. The login screen to ǥᵍłˡŧᵗȼᶜħʰvᵛɍʳsˢ offers a warning: All hope abandon ye who enter here, for your minds can enter, but your souls shall follow not.
Each token is a 5-frame animated GIF crafted using pre-generated latent image diffusion conditioned with text inputs, subsequently passed through generative post-processing and animated during minting. Each numbered auction lot totals 32 animations, brought straight to your television screens in crisp 3-bit retro palettes, featuring citizens, cityscapes, covers and encounters. Five generative effect stacks are inspired by 1980-ties graphics, with customized diffusion dithering and aberrated pixel sorting.
